Character sketch

Zits from the novel Flight by Sherman Alexie is a 15 year old orphan who lives in Seattle and holds a large amount of anger from his past. He has lived with more family's than he can count, his dad left him when he was born and his mom died of cancer when he was young.

Zits is a tall skinny Indian boy who has horrible complexion, zits from head to toe. He is ugly, like his father has a big nose and thick black hair “I'm ashamed of being fifteen years old. And being tall. And skinny and ugly.” (p.4)

Zits is a angry 15 year old boy who loves to fight and drink. Zits carries himself as a tough kid who can take anyone or anything on by himself, but while doing things he thinks to himself why? Why am i such an angry person why do i keep ending up back in this juvenile jail, but can't seem to figure it out. “ i wonder if i deserve to live, what the hell was i thinking ? What kind of bastard am i?” (p.37-38)

Zits travelling through time could be his realization of how he doesn't need to be an asshole all the time, he can be kind and respectful to everyone just because of his past doesn't mean other people he has never met should suffer his wrath.
