Music Comparison

1. “White Noise” By Erra

Is similar to the novel “The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” By Sherman Alexie because Junior Lives in two parallel universes one is Reardan High School and the other is the Rez. Junior is completely ignored in the Rez while in Reardan High School he is seen as just another smart kid, and this is similar to the song “Beyond our world lie parallels between, Our dimensions images unseen” referring to how he as an “image” is unable to be seen by the kids on the Rez. Junior is also not understood as a kid on the Rez, he is seen as some dumb kid who thinks he is smarter than everybody else and how he feels like giving up, very similar to, “Open your eyes You can't perceive me Closed off to the senses that exist In your reality, Beyond our world, I will abandon myself”. Junior needs a new life and he finds it at Reardan High School, he goes through a “rebirth”, and to refer to the song “Rebirth in a dimension unknown, unseen”

2. “Heart” By Erra

“To lose what is closest to me is the end of my beginning, Adapting forms consume the thought of this love ending, I am drowning, falling further from the surface” this refers to the death of Juniors sister, grandmother, and fathers best friend and all of the sorrow and how himself feels like giving up. “You were the constant truth that gave my life purpose; Conflict resides inside my desperate lungs” I think this has to do with his Grandmothers passing because she was the most honest and sweet hearted person, and with the entire internal conflict dwelling within him.

3. “Unsuitable Patterns” By Onward To Olympas

“I will not sit back and watch you degrade my name” I think of this as being related to the fact of how he gets bullied so much and this is what is going through his head. “I know I make mistakes, but what have I done to make you think that I am so wrong? When we all vanish from this earth do you want to go with that disguise?” This part of the song is similar to the novel because when Junior and Rowdy are fighting he tries to “kiss and make-up” but whenever he tries Rowdy punches the truth to the side and all he sees is the negatives, while he is disguised in anger.
