The novel Flight exemplifies Martin Luther Kings quote “the ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people” because the main character several difficult situation that are beyond his control. For example first when Zits becomes Hank Storm he witnesses his partner Art kill an innocent Indian and he is forced to shoot his dead body in the chest. This shows that good people are often the target for violence and bad people often go off unpunished. Another example of cruelty was when he was put in a mutes body and is told to cut a soldiers throat for revenge of his own muteness “ my father yells at me in his own language he ants me to become a warrior”. This shows how he is forced to do something that he doesn't want to do. When zits turns into Irish Gus he finally realizes that he can make good choices and saves a little Indian boy even when the character he has become is a tracker of Indians “ I know i will be killed for being a traitor a traitor is never forgiven and never forgotten”. These examples explain how the book Flight and Martin Luther King's quote have the same meanings of good vs evil and show how bad people can be stopped if all good people stop it.
