In the novel Flight by Sherman Alexie there are multipe examples of opression and cruelty by the bad people, as mentioned in Martin Luther King jr.'s quote, “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.” One major example is when Zits (Hank) is with Art when Art shoots an indian. This example relates to the quote because Zits wanted to stop Art when he was shooting the Indian, but didnt because he was scared, that he would think he was a traitor. The importance of this example is that zits (Hank) could have done something, but he didnt because he was worried about his own safety more than the person's safety that was in danger. In this case, even though Zits didnt even take part in the event he did nothing to stop it which makes him just as guilty. This type of situatuion occurs all over the world every day and still we, good people do nothing about it.
