Boatwright
August Boatwirght is
black women who grew up in Virginia. Later moved to Tiburon, South
Carolina. She is the owner of the Black Madonna Honey Company. She
went to a black college then later became Lily's mothers house keeper
when she was little. August had the dream to become a teacher but
then moved to take over the beekeeping company from her grandparents.
August loves bees. Shes fascinated by them and everything they do.
August is a tall black
women who is her own person. She lives with her two younger sisters,
June and May. They all live in a large, bright pink house in Tiburon,
South Carolina. August works on her bee farm and loves what she does.
August is an all around
good, caring person. She is very understanding and wise. If it werent
for her kindness she would probably have a harder time accepting a
young white girl with an older black women. August isn't married by
choice. She doesn't want to have to give up her freedom and love for
bees. August is a great listener. When Lily had questions about her
mother she was ready to sit and listen to what she had to say. August
is a smart women who knows right from wrong.
Lily is treating August
as a mother. August is there for Lily with her love and support. Lily
treats August as a role model. August teaches Lily all she knows,
from beekeeping to the importance of love. August is such a strong
individual. Shes caring for a little white girl and her black house
keeper as well as dealing with her own life and everything that comes
with being a black women. Including all the racism and prejudices
that all black people have to deal with everyday of their
lives.
