The
book The Concubines Children by Denise Chong shows us that Martin
Luther's King Jr's words
“The
ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people
but the silence over that by
the
good people” takes place in the book when no body stands up for
Chinese when the government gave them the dangerous jobs while
building the CPR and they made shop owners fire their Chinese
employes. When the depression starts to take place the government
tells shop owners to fire their Chinese employes and to hire white
people if you want to stay in business and all the white people just
accepted it and stood around and let it happen. Also when they where
building the CPR the government gave Chinese people all the dangerous
jobs for less pay than what white people where getting and their
jobs where easier and less dangerous. In conclusion white people
stood around and let the government give Chinese people dangerous low
paying work on the CPR and let them get fired because they got the
benefits of it and they did not want to lose that.
Very in depth response! I liked how you incorporated some of your thoughts.
